About

Det-dur.dk is a website in reminisce of the radio show Det DUR broadcasted on the Danish broadcasting corporation - Danmarks Radio - from 1989 till 1991. It was on the air for 2 hours weekly.

The name Det DUR is an abbreviation of Dansk UngdomsRadio (Danish youth radio) and later Dansk UndergrundsRadio (Danish underground radio). The name also has a twist as 'det dur' means 'it works'.

The show was hosted by a group of young DJs and was featuring the latest dance music in terms of house, techno, hip-hop and soul. The bunch had a rather loose way of making the show with a delicate humour between them. Combined with certain gimmicks in some of the shows changing the environment from the radio studio to some odd place like a laundry or the backseat of a van with a crazy ex-racing driver, made the show very special and dearly remembered.

The show was on at a time when the dance music was not commonly accessible in Denmark. Hence the show was an anchor point for people interested in this kind of music. The show had an important impact on the increasing popularity of the music and its awareness to a broader audients during those years.

By the end of 1991 the show was shut down for no apparent reason. It came as quite a shock for us dedicated listeners.
